Biography of Dr. Awkward-Rich
A poet and critic, Cameron Awkward-Rich is the author of two collections of poetry: Sympathetic Little Monster (Ricochet Editions 2016) and Dispatch (Persea Books, 2019). His writing has appeared/is forthcoming in American Poetry Review, Poetry Magazine, Academy of American Poets Poem-a-day, American Quarterly, Signs, Science Fiction Studies and elsewhere. Cameron has received fellowships from Cave Canem, The Watering Hole, and Duke University’s program in Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies. Presently, he is an assistant professor of Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Awkward-Rich is author of the forthcoming Dispatch and the collection Sympathetic Little Monster, which was a finalist for a 2017 Lambda Literary Award, and which poet Danez Smith described as “at once analytical, magical, confession, dismissive, but ultimately, and simply, a collection breaking new ground in Trans, Queer, Black, and American Letters.”
